Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey injury update emerges with surgery on cards

Aston Villa attacker Leon Bailey may be ruled out for over 10 weeks due to his hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has explained the best and worst-case scenarios for the Jamaica international and has claimed that surgery cannot be ruled out yet.

Unai Emery stated on 31 August that he’s unaware of how bad the setback is for the 27-year-old and has thus not put a timeline on his return.

Speaking about him, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientisttold Villa News: “His return timeline remains TBD so that leads me to believe it’s not just a low Grade 0 or 1 injury which would be the best case scenario.

The worst case would be a Grade 4 hamstring rupture which means over 10 weeks out depending on if surgery is needed or not and that possibility cannot be ruled out yet.

One confounding variable with Bailey is that he’s a high pace player which puts more stress on the hamstrings so you have to make sure he can handle those demands before being reintroduced.

Aston Villa are likely to monitor Leon Bailey intensely through the international break

Scans would only reveal how bad the setback is and the club’s physios are surely going to be monitoring the winger during the international break.

He is among their most important players in the final third and has the ability to turn the game around within the blink of an eye.

Hopefully, he does not require surgery and is already on his path to returning to first-team football for the Villans.

In other Aston Villa news, a first-team player is likely to miss at least three weeks of training due to an injury.
