Ben Broggio makes first team claim to Unai Emery with Aston Villa u21 showing v Fleetwood Town

Ben Broggio can be hopeful of featuring in the Aston Villa first team after his performance for the Under 21s against Fleetwood Town.

The Young Lions secured their first three points of their Bristol Street Motors Trophy campaign at Highbury on Tuesday 3 September.

First-team star Emi Buendia made his long-awaited return from injury and scored a brace within 40 minutes against the League One side.

The Fishermen drew level in the second half with two quick-fire goals before Kyrie Pierre scored late on to avoid penalties and secure the win.

Unai Emery will have sat up and taken notice of one youngster in Broggio who shone even with the likes of Ross Barkley and Jacob Ramsey appearing.

Ben Broggio shines for Aston Villa v Fleetwood Town

The 17-year-old has caught the eye in the Villa academy and is playing for the Under 21s despite being three to four years below the threshold.

This just goes to show how highly rated he is at Bodymoor Heath and he has made that faith count with a top performance against Fleetwood.

The winger was afforded the full 90 minutes by Josep Gombau and was able to keep up an 85 per cent pass accuracy across his 62 touches [SofaScore].

The local lad created one big chance but will have been frustrated to miss two of his own throughout. He certainly deserved a goal on the night.

The England youth international was able to create chances throughout by dribbling to the byline and playing passes.

He was successful with 75 per cent of his dribble attempts which is top-class and is better than the likes of Barkley and Buendia who failed to complete one between them [SofaScore].

Broggio will be hopeful that Emery will take notice of him and can potentially feature in a first-team squad before the end of the season.
