Aston Villa seal Yeimar Mosquera transfer and confirm instant loan move
Yeimar Mosquera has joined Aston Villa from Orsomarso but will head straight back out on loan to Real Union, the club have confirmed.
Villa posted on their official X account (30 August) that they had signed Mosquera from Orsomarso SC in Colombia, stating on their website that the 19-year-old defender will play for their development teams.
However, rather than immediately joining Villa’s academy, the centre-back will head out on loan to Real Union in the Spanish third tier, despite having already made his first-team breakthrough with Orsomarso.
Aston Villa confirm Yeimar Mosquera signing
Standing at six-foot-three and already a Colombian Under-20s international, Mosquera has scored twice across 19 appearances in his home country’s second tier for Orsomarso this year.
The 19-year-old’s professional career is just getting off the ground, and having made a high-profile move to the Premier League (of all leagues), Mosquera will now hone his craft further in Spain’s third tier.
Unai Emery will certainly be hoping that Mosquera can make a big impact upon his eventual arrival at Bodymoor Heath full-time, but the Colombian is not yet ready for a first-team breakthrough.
Emery has a selection of centre-backs at his disposal heading into Villa’s maiden Champions League campaign, but the Spaniard will still be keeping an eye on Mosquera’ progress with Real Union.
The likes of Jhon Duran and Douglas Luiz before him have made big impacts during their respective times at Villa Park, and hopes will be high that the club’s latest South American signing is a success.
