Aston Villa can have 9.5/10 transfer window if they make this signing as well as Geertruida

Ty Bracey will rate this transfer window as a 9.5/10 if Lutsharel Geertruida and a centre back are signed before the 30 August deadline.

The Villans are looking to complete some uncharacteristic late transfer business with the Netherlands international involved in a potential £30millon deal [Matt Maher].

The versatile defender could be the sixth signing, sticking around for the season, at Villa Park in a busy summer for Unai Emery.

Villa podcaster Bracey believes one more signing, alongside the Feyenoord man, could make this window near perfect.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I said that the most important thing we needed in this window was depth.

We need to have two competitive starting 11s and I don’t think we are far off that, we’re getting close. We looked dead at the end of last year.

I think we’ve absolutely added depth. It’s hard to rate the window until it is over and we don’t know who could come in but if we get someone like Geertruida it becomes a 9/10.

If we get a new centre-back option as well it would bring it up to a 9.5/10.

Aston Villa urged to sign Lutsharel Geertruida and new defender

The Villans are preparing for a season where they will be playing Champions League football and need plenty of depth throughout their squad.

Last season ended in rather drab circumstances with results dropping off and top four being scaped thanks to Tottenham’s poor form.

With that being the case, it seems clear that Emery and Monchi have moved to build a squad ready to compete on all fronts for the new season.

Geertruida could prove to be a smart pick-up thanks to his ability to play all across the backline and in midfield when needed.

A new centre-back could still come in and challenge the likes of Diego Carlos and Lamare Bogarde for a place in the squad.

There is plenty to be excited for as the 30 August transfer deadline looms over Villa Park.
