Aston Villa to pre-agree permanent fee for last-gasp Trevoh Chalobah transfer

Ty Bracey wants Aston Villa to sign Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea before the transfer window deadline passes.

The Villans are looking to add to the squad before the end of the window to have their squad ready for the Champions League.

This could see Unai Emery looking to bring in Chalobah with the Telegraph reporting on 10 August that there is interest in the 25-year-old.

Villa podcaster Bracey would like to see the Chelsea academy graduate come in on loan to strengthen the defensive depth in B6.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It’s all about being smart with the business and you have to be realistic about what we can do in the window.

I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Chalobah, it would be nice to have some extra depth in the defence. I understand that Mings is coming back but one more wouldn’t hurt at all.

I think if there is an obligation to buy, we will agree the fee beforehand. We look a bit weak in terms of depth in defence.

He’d be a useful addition to the squad. You know the quality is there and it would be good to have the quality in numbers there, like we have in other positions.

Aston Villa could sign Trevoh Chalobah

The Villans are somewhat light in the centre-back area with Lamare Bogarde being a genuine squad option after spending half of last season on loan in League One.

This situation could be set to get worse with Diego Carlos still potentially heading for the exit door at Villa Park.

If a deal can be struck to bring Chalobah to Villa Park on an initial loan, then Emery would have positive cover in the backline for the season.

The Englishman is positive with the ball at his feet and could prove to be the perfect squad option to help rotate Ezri Konsa throughout the campaign.

It is unclear whether the 25-year-old will favour a move to Crystal Palace or not but the prospect of Champions League football may be a contributing factor.
