Aston Villa to consider ‘reasonable’ Leander Dendoncker offer ahead of last-gasp exit

Dan Bardell believes Aston Villa will move on Leander Dendoncker if a reasonable bid comes in before the 30 August transfer deadline.

The ex-Belgium international hasn’t featured in either of the two matchday squads for the Villans in the Premier League, pointing towards a potential departure.

This could go through before the transfer window ends after Belgian journalist Kjell Doms reported on 29 August that Anderlecht and Las Palmas are battling to sign the 29-year-old.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Unai Emery will part ways with the midfielder if any acceptable bid comes in.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think if Villa can get any kind of reasonable loan offer or transfer fee for Dendoncker, I think he would go.

We’ve seen plenty of times that players who are available to leave don’t make the move and are reintegrated into the squad.

I think if they can’t shift him, it makes sense to have Dendoncker there.

I’d expect if Villa receives anywhere near a reasonable offer on loan or a permanent, Dendoncker will go because it’s clear there are loads of barriers with him getting into the first team.

Aston Villa set for Leander Dendoncker exit decision

The Belgian came in from Wolves under Steven Gerrard in a deal that appeared to be a panic buy alongside Jan Bednarek on loan from Southampton.

It is safe to say that Dendoncker has proved to be a useful asset in the Villa squad despite never being a regular in his spell with the club.

This hasn’t been down to a lack of trying with Boubacar Kamara coming in, in the same summer to take his place and be a key man in the Villa midfield.

With that being said, moving on the former Anderlecht starlet could be looking for a move away in search of first-team football.

His future will depend on whether he wants a squad role in the Champions League or a starting role for a club further down the ladder.
