Aston Villa backed to sign Barcelona star Raphinha as last-gasp transfer update emerges

Bryan King believes Unai Emery will be keen to bring Barcelona forward Raphinha to Aston Villa.

The ex-Villa scout feels that the Brazillian could help the Villans lift a trophy this season.

As reported by CaughtOffside (27 August), Raphinha remains on the club’s radar ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday (30 August).

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – claims a deal could make sense.

“Obviously Emery knows him, he knows Spanish football,” King said.

“He will be aware of what he can bring to Villa. If the player is available, and the fee is right, I’d imagine that Emery will want him in his Aston Villa squad for the UEFA Champions League.

“It is going to be an important season for Villa. It was great getting in the top four, but now they will be looking to win a competition. The more quality you bring in, the better your chances are of winning something.”

Unai Emery to bring Barcelona forward Raphinha to Aston Villa?

If Villa could bring Raphinha in before Friday, that would be a very exciting end to the transfer window.

The Brazillian has plenty of experience at the highest level of European football. Therefore, he could be exactly what the Villa squad needs ahead of their Champions League exploits.

A deal won’t be straightforward, but if the club could get it across the line, it would mark a very exciting end to what has been an exciting summer for Villa.
