Raheem Sterling update emerges as Aston Villa make transfer approach to Chelsea
Aston Villa are unlikely to have to worry about the fitness of Raheem Sterling if they sign him from Chelsea, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that while there are going to be fitness deficits, the England international is a veteran and will be handling his condition well behind the scenes.
This comes after the Guardian reported on 24 August that Villa have approached Chelsea, where he is on £325k/week wages, to sign the 29-year-old.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“He has not played this season and is being frozen out by Chelsea.
“I wouldn’t call it a red flag for any club looking to sign him, but there will certainly be fitness deficits considering he isn’t getting playing time.
“It’s something you can navigate but requires patience.
“One positive is that he is a veteran player so likely understands his own fitness needs and habits well.“
Raheem Sterling could make a difference for Aston Villa
Sterling’s experience with top clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea would bring a wealth of Premier League knowledge and a winning mentality to Villa.
Despite recent criticisms, the 29-year-old’s ability to perform in crucial moments remains, would offer Unai Emery’s side a cutting edge in attack.

His versatility across the front line provides tactical flexibility and his experience of playing in the Champions League will come in handy as well.
