Aston Villa to hit last-gasp Tammy Abraham transfer ‘stumbling block’ amid speculation

Aston Villa won’t sign Tammy Abraham if Jhon Duran stays due to injury and wage concerns, according to Ty Bracey.

Former Villa striker Abraham has been linked with a return to B6 throughout the transfer window but a move away from Roma has never gone through.

A move to West Ham looks likely now for the ex-Chelsea star [Corriere dello Sport] after being linked to signing Duran from the Villans earlier in the window.

Villa podcaster Bracey has suggested that Villa won’t move for the Roma striker because of his wage demands and recent injury issues.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’s on high wages and has had a fair few injuries. I think that may be a stumbling block.

I was definitely up for it at the start of the window but if Duran is still here it’s a different conversation.

If he was going to leave then maybe, they have similar builds and attributes. Duran is a rocket compared to Abraham in terms of speed.

I don’t think that we need a third striker in this window if he stays.

Aston Villa to end Tammy Abraham interest

The Villans are somewhat light in the striker position, especially if Ollie Watkins or Duran sustains an injury at any point during the season.

That could see Unai Emery looking to bring in a forward option but there would have to be someone willing to play second or third choice.

It has to be said that Abraham probably wouldn’t be willing to take that as a role coming in from Roma, especially after his recent injury troubles.

Duran is someone that the Villans need to focus on because if they can get a tune out of him then he could be the future of the club in forward areas.

Although bringing Abraham back for nostalgia reasons would be great, it isn’t particularly practical for the present.

In other Aston Villa news, £11m worth of sales could be sanctioned before the transfer window ends.
