Aston Villa in ‘absolutely wild’ pursuit of Nicolas Jackson amid Chelsea transfer development

Dan Bardell can not see Aston Villa signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, even if they sign a new forward before the transfer deadline.

A report from CaughtOffside on 27 August suggested that the Villans have been tracking the Senegal international for over a year.

Unai Emery could have been handed a boost in the race to sign the 23-year-old as the Blues are in talks with Napoli over a potential deal for Victor Osimhen [Fabrizio Romano].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has been left shocked by the rumours and can not see the former Villareal man moving to B6.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “That’s an absolutely wild rumour.

Chelsea are trying to sign a centre forward and they probably will before the deadline which would make Jackson their number two forward.

If he came to Villa he’d be number two anyway. Villa aren’t going to spend on a pure striker when they have Watkins and Duran.

Jackson is not going to come to Villa for that reason.

Nicolas Jackson could leave Chelsea for Aston Villa

There is potential that the Villans could look to bring in a new number nine before the summer transfer window slams shut on 30 August.

It feels unlikely that a deal for Jackson would be one that makes sense for the player given his minutes would have to drop off.

With any striker that comes through the doors at Villa Park, they will automatically be playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins after a stellar few years in the Premier League.

This wouldn’t suit Jackson who has somewhat become the main number nine at Stamford Bridge despite often being ridiculed.

Emery has worked with the player before but this move, right now, doesn’t appear to be in the best interest of any party.
