Chelsea set to make last-ditch bid to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa
Chelsea are planning a last-ditch attempt to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to GiveMeSport.
Writing on their website [27 August], the news outlet reported that Chelsea will turn their attention to Duran if they fail to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.
The Colombian was the subject of interest from West Ham United earlier this summer [Daily Mail], but the sides failed to broker a deal. However, Duran could still leave the Villans before the 30 August deadline.

While a move away from Aston Villa has failed to materialise for Duran this summer, his desire to play regular first-team football remains.
The 20-year-old took his opportunity against West Ham and scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory on the opening day but was dropped to the bench for the following match against Arsenal.
Duran signalled to the supporters his intention to remain at Villa Park when celebrating his goal at the London Stadium but that may be short-lived.
Chelsea are enjoying another frivolous summer of spending under Todd Boehly and, with no obvious method to the madness, are now targeting a striker to boost their already brimming attacking options.
Given the number of players Enzo Maresca has at his disposal, it is baffling how any self-respecting player would want to join the circus that is Stamford Bridge but, on paper, for the time being at least, they could be considered a more attractive prospect than Aston Villa.
This could play into Unai Emery’s hands perfectly as Chelsea are not afraid to flex their financial muscle, and the Villans will be able to demand they match their £40m valuation of the forward with only three days left until the deadline.
