Aston Villa finalise signing after player learns ‘hell of a lot’ in elite environment
Dan Bardell is interested to see if Kane Taylor will feature in the Aston Villa first team after resigning from Manchester City.
The Villans announced via their official website on 20 August that they had signed the 19-year-old from the Premier League champions.
This move has come five years after the midfielder left Villa Park to sign a scholarship with the Citizens.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell was happy with the transfer and is intrigued to see where Taylor fits in.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “It is good to get a highly-rated player back once they go to Manchester City.
“He’ll have learned a hell of a lot from being around an elite environment. He might have had exposure to training with some of the first-team players that Man City have got.
“Villa are a high-level club now so it is hard for young players to break through because they’ll need to be Champions League ready and that is a big ask for young players.
“It will be interesting to see if he goes out on loan or if he sticks around and trains with the first team and plays for the under-21s.“
Kane Taylor returns to Aston Villa from Manchester City
This is the sort of move that Villa have been clever at making for many years with the likes of Louie Barry and Nico Richards being standouts.
Although it feels unlikely that either will play a role in the first team under Unai Emery, they will eventually be sold and likely for a profit.
Taylor fits into a similar category with Fabrizio Romano reporting (20 August) that the transfer will cost £750k with City having a 25 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal.
This means that if he features in the first team in the future the Villans have got themselves a bargain.
If that doesn’t happen and he is sold for anything over £1million then there is a profit to put towards PSR concerns. Clever business by Monchi and Co.
