Liverpool would accept £40m Aston Villa bid for Joe Gomez
Ty Bracey believes Aston Villa will be priced out of a deal to sign Joe Gomez from Liverpool before the transfer window closes.
Jacob Tanswell reported for The Athletic on 20 August that the Villans are exploring their options with Liverpool over the 27-year-old.
The 15-time capped England international can play in any position across the front line which is likely to appeal to Unai Emery.
Villa podcaster Bracey is unsure whether Villa would spend as much as the Reds would demand for the former Charlton Athletic starlet.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’d be an expensive player.
“I think he’d cost us maybe £40m, that is probably what it would take for him to leave Liverpool.
“I know he’s had troubles with injuries in the past which is a worry. Are Villa going to spend £40m for a player who isn’t going to start every week? Probably not.
“I would say that is a deal that isn’t going to happen, personally.“
Aston Villa interested in Joe Gomez
Right now, the Villans aren’t in dire need of a new centre-back signing as it looks like Diego Carlos is set to stay on at Villa Park.
If the Brazilian were to make a move away, Gomez could prove to be a perfect signing for Emery and his squad ahead of a busy season filled with Premier League and Champions League football.
The Englishman would bring plenty of top-level experience having won almost all there is to win in his time with Liverpool.
An issue may arise when it comes to game time given how many minutes he could demand if he makes the move to B6.

Considering that Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa are always going to be Emery’s preferred centre back choices, his game time is going to be limited.
