Matty Cash exit update emerges at Aston Villa after AC Milan transfer developments

Alan Hutton hasn’t heard anything to suggest Matty Cash will exit Aston Villa before the transfer window slams shut.

The Polish international started the Villans Premier League opener against West Ham United on Saturday (17 August) despite being surrounded by speculation for much of the transfer window.

AC Milan were understood to be interested in signing the 27-year-old earlier this summer, with Unai Emery’s Villans believed to be willing to sanction his exit for a fee in the region of £17million [Calcio Mercato, 9 June].

The Italian giants ultimately turned their attention to Tottenham defender Emerson Royal instead and Hutton believes Cash will now remain at Villa Park beyond the 30 August transfer deadline.

“It’s gone a little bit quiet around Matty Cash,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.

“I know there were a lot of rumours around I think it was AC Milan at the time, but I’ve not really heard as much.

“I feel that if he was to go, they would have to bring in someone who is ready and able to slot straight into the team but again, I’ve not really heard anything.

“He’s been a bit part of the pre-season and he’s going to be there now at least for the start and again I keep going back to it, anything can happen in football.

“Sometimes you don’t hear anything and then the next day he’s left. That’s the way that football works, but I still feel that he has a lot to offer in a Villa shirt.

“At this moment in time, it seems to have gone really quiet.”

Will Matty Cash exit Aston Villa after AC Milan transfer rumours?

While some Villa fans would have liked to see Emery upgrade on Cash this summer, very few supporters will be disappointed to see the Polish international remain at Villa Park beyond the transfer deadline.

The 27-year-old may not be the perfect defender, but he has been a regular fixture under Emery over the last couple of seasons and it is clear that the Villa boss rates him highly.

Between Cash, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Ezri Konsa, the Villans manager has three very different, but very solid right-back options to call upon and that will be a necessity with Champions League football looming on the horizon.

Of course, a big money offer could change everything in the final weeks of the window but at the moment, it seems as though Cash will be playing his football in claret and blue this term.
