Aston Villa agree deal with Nottingham Forest for Alex Moreno – Fabrizio Romano

Aston Villa have agreed a loan deal with an option to buy for Alex Moreno with Nottingham Forest, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported on 20 August that the Spaniard has a medical booked with the Reds on Monday (26 August).

The 31-year-old will join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side on an initial loan with an option to buy the left back at the end of the season.

Alex Moreno to leave Aston Villa for Nottingham Forest

As soon as Lucas Digne rejected a move away from Villa Park to join Galatasaray, the writing was on the wall for Moreno.

With Ian Maatsen coming in from Chelsea earlier in the window, the Villans are heavily stocked at left-back which leaves the former Real Betis man surplus to requirements.

This won’t come as a surprise to Villa fans who haven’t seen the best of the full-back since he picked up an injury against Liverpool back in 2023.

His return coincided with an upturn in the form of Lucas Digne who has been kept hold of despite his hefty wages which have caused issues in the transfer window.

With all this being said, a move away from B6 does seem to suit all parties as Moreno goes in search of more regular first-team football.

There will be no more “viva Moreno” chants from the Holte End this season in a sad move away for a player who had somewhat cult status in a short period.
