Aston Villa to be blown out of water in bid to sign Joao Felix after Fabrizio Romano news

Ty Bracey believes Joao Felix will join Chelsea if Aston Villa don’t make an official offer to Atletico Madrid.

The Villans have maintained a consistent interest in the Portugal international but are yet to formalise that with a bid.

Unai Emery’s side could be set to miss out on their main transfer target with Fabrizio Romano reporting on 16 August that the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

Villa podcaster Bracey has suggested that a bid hasn’t been made by Monchi and Co. meaning a move to Villa Park isn’t currently on the cards.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “We haven’t made an offer Felix so it’s unfair to say he’s putting off a move.

He can only accept an offer from a club if they put one in for him. There’s been talks of us looking at him and talking to him but if Chelsea come in with an offer then they will sign him.

It will ultimately come down to who is actually putting the offers on the table.

If it drags on it isn’t because of the player, if Villa aren’t putting in bids then it’s on them. If we are waiting for him to make a decision it’s a different story, but that isn’t the case at all.

Aston Villa to miss out on Joao Felix to Chelsea

It has been made clear that Emery wants the Atleti star but a move hasn’t ever looked like being close despite frequent interest reports.

Although he would add quality to the Villa squad, he wasn’t missed during the opening day 2-1 win against West Ham.

There are players who can step into the role that Felix would fill. The likes of Morgan Rogers, John Mcginn and even Youri Tielemans would be comfortable in that number 10 role.

Missing out on the Portuguese star could be frustrating, especially to a Premier League rival, but it will not dictate the success of the Villans’ transfer window.

The season has begun well and Emery will have other transfer options in mind if Felix doesn’t find his way to B6.
