Mosquera in Birmingham with Aston Villa medical now well underway
Aston Villa are set to sign Colombian teenager Yeimar Mosquera with the defender currently undergoing a medical with the Premier League club, according to Adriano Savalli.
The Argentinian journalist reported via his personal X account on Friday (16 August) that Mosquera, 19, did part of his medical on Thursday (15 August) but is now finishing it off before the weekend.
Villa are signing Mosquera from Colombian second-tier side Orsomarso SC, who are set to keep 30 per cent of any future sale of the centre-back.

On Thursday, Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra reported that Mosquera was due in Birmingham for his medical and while it has dragged out over two days, that’s not unusual, especially when the youngster is likely to have had a long flight over from South America.
It’s unclear how much the Villans are paying for the Colombia Under-20s international but he’s set to pen a four-year deal at B6, meaning he’s one that Monchi clearly sees as someone with a lot of potential going forward.
It’s definitely rare for Premier League clubs to pick up players from the second tier of divisions outside of England so Monchi and his team of scouts will have no doubt been really impressed by what they’ve seen from Mosquera at Orsomarso, where he’s played 20 times in all competitions this year and also scored two goals.
The Athletic reported on 14 August that the centre-back is someone who Monchi sees as “one for the future” and he could be loaned to Real Union in Spain to get some first-team experience in Europe.
