Damian Vidagany makes honest Aston Villa PSR admission live on talkSPORT
Ty Bracey has praised Damian Vidagany for offering his insight into PSR at Aston Villa.
The Villans’ director of football operations has spoken out about the Premier League’s rules in a recent interview with talkSPORT on 14 August.
He said: “The clubs need rules to stick to, but PSR is making it very complex.
“The system is forcing the clubs to sell their academy players. This is the way to make more profit and stick to the rules. This is killing some of the spirit of football to sell academy players.”
Villa podcaster Bracey was happy to have some insight into the financial situation at the club after a summer filled with ins and outs at Villa Park.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It’s been made clear for the last few weeks that it’s one in one out.
“We’re doing things properly and I’m glad that we got that insight from Vidagany and Monchi to say this isn’t Football Manager, we can’t just pick up a chequebook and throw it at whoever we want.
“We have to abide by the rules. As much as people are growing impatient that we are one or two short, we’re showing that we’re doing it properly by saying some players have to leave.
“I’m happy we’ve had that insight because you don’t get that every day from a football club, never mind Villa.“
Damian Vidagany makes Aston Villa PSR admission
It was a gutting start to the transfer window for Villa fans to lose Douglas Luiz to Juventus after a stellar season for the Brazilian.
This was a deal that summed up everything wrong with PSR that the Villans had to sell a star player just to comply with what the Premier League wanted.
The club have done well to come back from that precarious situation by bringing in Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley but it could be argued that Luiz is better than both of them.
With that situation now in the past, it is great to see a club official like Vidagany be such an open book on this matter with a national broadcaster.
There doesn’t seem to be a club that likes PSR but is just something everyone is being forced into finding ways around, which almost defeats the object of it in the first place.
