Cameron Archer to leave Aston Villa yet again – Fabrizio Romano

Cameron Archer will leave Aston Villa on loan before the transfer window ends, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported on 15 August that the striker will leave the Villans on a temporary basis as “part of the plan”.

Union Berlin and Getafe have shown interest in the 22-year-old while Bournemouth showed an interest earlier in the window.

Cameron Archer set to leave Aston Villa

It felt as if the 2024/25 season was going to be the one where Archer was finally handed a chance in the Villa squad for the campaign.

With Champions League football on the horizon, the Villans need to meet home-grown requirements that have been set by UEFA.

This had led to thoughts that the ex-Sheffield United man would stay on at Villa Park and play a role as a third-choice striker option.

With Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran returning from international duty, chances are going to be limited for the Englishman moving into the season.

As a result of the striker duo being missing during preseason, Archer has featured in most games and got on the scoresheet against Athletic Bilbao.

His miss against Borussia Dortmund wasn’t anything to be proud of but his performances have been mostly positive.

A loan moveaway now looks likely in a deal which may result in a new forward coming in before the transfer deadline.
