Aston Villa close to re-signing midfielder from Manchester City – Fabrizio Romano
Aston Villa are on the verge of an agreement to re-sign Manchester City midfielder Kane Taylor, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal X account on Thursday (15 August), Romano reported that the 19-year-old is set to sign a long-term deal at Villa Park, five years after he initially left the West Midlands to sign for the Premier League champions.
It is understood that a deal has been agreed between Villa and City with Romano saying, “here we go, soon”, which essentially means the transfer is all but set for completion.
Who will Aston Villa sign next in summer transfer window?
It’s been a quiet few weeks on the transfer front for Aston Villa.
Unai Emery has brought in a whole bunch of players this summer, re-signing the likes of Cameron Archer and Jaden Philogene but also introducing new stars like Ian Maatsen, Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea, Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana.
Other than Mason Cotcher joining up with the youth ranks from Sunderland, there hasn’t been any first-team transfer activity in August.
Taylor is obviously going to be seen as one for the future and is expected to play for Villa’s Under-21s next season should he complete his move to the West Midlands.
The Birmingham-born talent never made a first-team matchday squad in his time at the Etihad but that could change with Villa, who’ll have plenty of competitions to play in this season thanks to their qualification to the Champions League.
