Aston Villa backed to seal loan-to-buy signing with Cameron Archer to exit again

Ty Bracey believes Cameron Archer should be allowed to leave Aston Villa if he wants to play regular first-team football.

Fabrizio Romano has reported (15 August) that Bournemouth, Union Berlin and Getafe are all interested in signing the 22-year-old on loan.

This appears to have been planned by the Villans but would leave a hole in the squad at Villa Park ahead of the season opener against West Ham.

Villa podcaster Bracey has suggested that a loan signing with a buy option could be utilised to cover for the outbound Englishman.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “If he doesn’t want to stay at Villa to go and get first-team minutes then I totally understand.

It looks like that’s what the club wants to do and it’s in the plans for the future then so be it. He’s at an important stage of his career for his development so playing as many minutes as possible is important to him.

I’m not against it really. It is one of them, it appears to be one in one out. It wouldn’t surprise me if we ended up going for a loan with an option to buy for a replacement option.

Aston Villa must replace Cameron Archer

The Villans do have a somewhat positive level of depth in forward areas with Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran as striker options.

Should one of those pick up an injury over the course of the season, there is no doubt that there would be concern over the squad in that position.

Archer may not be up to the level of the rest of the squad right now but Emery could certainly look to get the best out of him.

It does appear that the Villa academy product would rather join another club with the guarantee of regular first-team football ahead of being third choice at his boyhood side.

A loan option for a versatile forward, in a similar vein to someone like Joao Felix, could prove to be a smart replacement for Archer.
