Aston Villa set for exciting times ahead of Lutsharel Geertruida transfer
Bryan King believes exciting times are ahead for Aston Villa as they close in on the signing of Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida.
The ex-Villa scout believes that Unai Emery needs to strengthen his right-back options with Champions League football on the horizon.
Calciomercato journalist Francesco Guerrieri has reported that the Villans are now in advanced talks to get a transfer sorted in the coming weeks.
“I think right-back is an area of the pitch that Villa need to strengthen,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“The main reason for that is because they’re in the UEFA Champions League, and they have a full programme of Champions League right until December.
“Once it gets underway in September, they will have plenty of matches, and that will be coupled with their cup and league matches.
“I think this is all based on strengthening the squad ahead of a very exciting season for Villa, and supporters will be excited to see brand-new players.
“Villa need to strengthen the squad, and that is what they seem to be doing. It is an exciting time for the club.”
