Aston Villa to consider Jacob Ramsey sale to fund big-money transfer for Unai Emery
Noel Egan has suggested Jacob Ramsey could be sold by Aston Villa to fund a big-money transfer.
The ex-FIFA official and lifetime Villa supporter would prefer the midfielder to remain with the club.
Ramsey has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa throughout the summer, with Tottenham known admirers of the 23-year-old (via The Times, 27 June).
And Egan – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has conceded that the Villa academy graduate might need to be sold.
“I absolutely want Villa to keep hold of Ramsey,” Egan said.
“We didn’t have Ramsey for the vast majority of last season due to injuries. He looked really good against Athletic Bilbao in pre-season and I think supporters would welcome him staying put at Villa Park.
“However, having said that, we are light up top, Unai Emery needs another striker. Therefore, if Ramsey were to be sold in order to bring in a big-money striker that we need, then I think Villa supporters would understand that.”

There is no denying that Ramsey is an incredibly talented player. In addition, the youngster is a product of Villa’s academy.
As a result, fans would surely love to see him play a big part next season under Emery. However, the club are arguably in greater need of a striker than a midfielder.
Ollie Watkins carried a lot of weight on his shoulders last season and will hope to have some support during the upcoming campaign.

Therefore, if Ramsey could attract a big fee and that money could be put toward a brand-new striker, that might be the most beneficial move in the long run.
