Aston Villa want ‘shock’ Jack Grealish deal
Aston Villa are interested in a shock move that could see Manchester City star Jack Grealish return to the club, according to teamTALK.
The report (31 July) suggests that they are keeping a close eye on his situation, with a season-long loan alongside an obligation to buy not being out of the question.
This comes after a great deal of speculation on his future since the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Could Grealish return to Aston Villa?
It was just a matter of days ago that a video went viral of a young Aston Villa fan meeting Jack Grealish during pre-season. The England international asked whether or not he still liked him despite the move, likely because of how many Villa supporters turned on the 28-year-old once he’d made the switch to the champions.
It’s worth noting that his post-Villa Park treatment from supporters could be a reason why he wouldn’t return. In equal measure, his childhood club are back at the top table of European football – and under Emery, Grealish may be able to get back to the style of play that suits him best.
Last season, Grealish scored three Premier League goals to run alongside one assist (FBref). Yes, he’s made some major contributions to City’s success in recent years, but he’s never been as beloved as he once was.
After failing to make England’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad, perhaps he needs a change – and a seismic one at that.
