Aston Villa to seal ‘very good’ Kalvin Phillips transfer before 30 August

Bryan King has admitted that Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips could be a smart addition to Aston Villa before 30 August.

The ex-Villa scout insisted that the England international needs to get his career back on track after a failed loan spell at West Ham last season.

It has been reported that the Villans have made a loan offer for Phillips, who could be on the move again away from The Etihad.

“When he was at Leeds, I really liked the boy,” he exclusively told Villa News.

“He worked hard, tackled hard, his move to Manchester City may have been a step too far for him.

He hasn’t been playing regular football but did feature in England squads up until the EUROs, I feel a bit sorry for him because it was an unsure time at West Ham, I know Moyes always fancied him.

“I think he’s got to get himself back on the rails now and concentrate on his football, if he does go to Villa, he would certainly be a very good addition to the squad, that’s for sure.”

Aston Villa to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan?

It all went very wrong for Phillips after his life-changing move to Manchester City, one that has never taken off under Pep Guardiola.

With Amadou Onana already tipped to be an automatic starter after his move from Everton, alongside the likes of Youri Tielemans and Enzo Barrenechea.

Boubacar Kamara is still recovering from his long-term injury though, and that could open the perfect spot for Phillips to jump in.
