James Rodriguez claim emerges as Aston Villa offered chance to seal transfer
Aston Villa will be undertaking a risk if they are to sign James Rodriguez ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Santos attacking midfielder’s fitness record not just recently but in the Premier League, when he was at Everton, may be an indicator as to his availability should he return to the top flight.
As reported by TBR Football (23 July), the Villa Park outfit have been offered a chance to sign the 33-year-old Colombia international.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“He had been out recently for a while with a muscle injury which isn’t ideal, especially for someone who’s 33.
“The yellow flag for him isn’t the injury in my opinion – those happen – but rather his previous history in the Premier League.
“He’s been a player in the more difficult leagues where the idea of him outweighs his actual impact.
“That being said, if Villa can get him on a cutthroat number then the risk/reward could make sense but this would still be a high-risk one.“
Aston Villa must avoid signing James Rodriguez
The Villans must avoid signing the two-time Champions League winner as his recent performances and fitness levels have been inconsistent, suggesting a decline in his abilities.
His high wage demands could strain Villa’s budget, especially considering they need to strengthen multiple positions.

Moreover, the Colombian’s injury record is a concern, potentially leading to frequent absences and his performances in the Premier League have also been far from impressive.
