Unai Emery keen to sign Giovani Lo Celso as Fabrizio Romano drops Aston Villa update

Bryan King claims Unai Emery is keen to bring Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso to Aston Villa.

The ex-Villa scout feels that the club need players of Lo Celso’s profile ahead of competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via Playback (22 July), both Tottenham and Villa are interested in discussing a swap deal involving Lo Celso and Jacob Ramsey.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes Emery must make the final decision on this deal.

“They would be bringing in major experience with Lo Celso,” King said.

“I think he would get regular football at Villa Park. The manager knows him and they can both speak the same language, which would help.

“Emery will be keen to bring Lo Celso in, no doubt, and it has to be him who has the final say on this transfer.

“Villa will need players such as Lo Celso next season, players who have performed at the highest level.”

Aston Villa to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham?

Lo Celso has struggled since arriving in the Premier League.

He has never been able to find a consistent run of form in a Spurs shirt. However, he did play some of his best football under Emery while on loan with Villarreal.

Therefore, the Villa boss could once again look to bring the best out of Lo Celso, this time in the West Midlands.

There is no doubt that the 28-year-old is talented, a fact which he regularly proves for Argentina.

He might just need a change in scenery, and Villa Park could be the perfect destination.

Some supporters might have their doubts, and letting go of Ramsey wouldn’t be easy. However, if Emery wants him, the Spaniard has proven thus far that fans at Villa Park must trust his decision-making.
