Money no issue as Aston Villa to splash the cash on Joao Felix after Moussa Diaby exit
Ty Bracey predicted Aston Villa will “splash the cash” earned from Moussa Diaby’s sale and thinks money will not be an issue if they opt to go after Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.
France international Diaby looks set to leave Villa Park after Fabrizio Romano reported on 21 July that a £50.5million deal has been agreed with Al Ittihad.
The Villans have been linked to signing Felix as a replacement with Romano suggesting (22 July) boss Unai Emery appreciates the 24-year-old talent.
Villa podcaster Bracey thinks Felix – who spent last season on loan at Barcelona – would have a point to prove should be make the switch to Villa Park but did warn that the club should continue to look at smart transfer decisions.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “The money is available for him. It won’t be a deal where money is the issue I don’t think.
“It is important that Villa stick to the smart business that is financially correct for the club. That isn’t to say that I don’t think they won’t be looking at Joao Felix and exploring their options.
“He is an extremely talented player with a lot to prove at 24 years old now. Whether he wants to come or not is a different story so I think they’ve got to be careful with it.
“Obviously there’s a steady cash flow coming in with Diaby on his way out.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise to see us splash that cash, but it is yet to be seen whether that is spread across the squad rather than used on just one player.“
Aston Villa could replace Moussa Diaby with Joao Felix
The Villans will be in need of an attacking option from the transfer market once a deal for Diaby with Saudi Arabia has been completed.
The Frenchman featured in all but one game in all competitions last season so will represent a miss for Emery’s squad moving into the new campaign.
Signing Felix could certainly help to plug that gap with his versatility to play across the front line and behind the striker.
The fee and wages involved will certainly be high but if anyone can get the best out of the ex-Barcelona loanee, it is Emery.

The Villa boss has previous for getting the best out of diamonds in the rough, just look at Leon Bailey’s form since his appointment.
