Morgan Rogers dazzles as Aston Villa ace backed after what he did v Walsall
Dan Bardell has praised Morgan Rogers for his performance against Walsall and has backed him to have a positive season with Aston Villa.
The Villans began their preseason on Wednesday (17 July) with a 3-0 win at the Bescot Stadium with the Englishman scoring a brace.
There were many positive performances on the night against The Saddlers but the 21-year-old caught the eye above the rest.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has heaped praise on the versatile forward after watching his side’s first friendly of the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell: “Morgan Rogers picked up from where he left off last season.
“He took his goals very well, you can see that he is full of confidence. He adapted last season to what Unai Emery expects of players who play out wide or as a number ten.
“I think he’s got a big season ahead and I can’t speak highly enough of him. He’s going to be a crucial and important player next season and the Walsall game just showed that.“
Morgan Rogers to step up for Aston Villa
Rogers was certainly an unknown quantity to most when he came through the doors at Villa Park in a surprising January move.
There is no doubt that the former West Brom academy star has proved himself as an integral part of the Villans’ squad since joining.
Under Emery, the versatile forward has gone from strength to strength and become one of the first name’s on the team sheet at times.
With the return from injury of the likes of Jacob Ramsey and Emi Buendia coming soon, it will be interesting to see where they fit in around Rogers.
He has certainly helped himself with his performance against Walsall with Villa fans delighted with his preseason showing.
