Jaden Philogene will delight Unai Emery as Aston Villa return confirmed
Unai Emery will be delighted with Aston Villa resigning Jaden Philogene after offering assurances about his game time next season.
The club announced the signing of the England Under 21 International on 19 July just a year after selling him to the Tigers.
The winger had a positive campaign in the Championship under Liam Rosenior but missed out on a play-off place.
Despite this, the 22-year-old featured across 32 appearances in the second tier where he accrued 12 goals and six assists [FotMob].
This wasn’t surprising to Villa supporters who were certainly disappointed to lose Philogene after a superb run of superb preseason performances.
Now that his homecoming to B6 has been confirmed Emery will be delighted to have the Englishman as part of his squad for the upcoming season.
Jaden Philogene to get regular Aston Villa game-time
After confirming his return to Villa Park, the 22-year-old spoke on the Villans’ YouTube channel and revealed his conversation with Emery.
He said: “Unai (Emery) spoke to me face-to-face and we had a very good conversation about my playing time.
“He said I did well when I was here in pre-season last year and that I’m going to get chances this time. It also depends on me and how I play.”
With opportunities in cup competitions most likely as well as chances to impress in the Champions League, the jump from the Championship is going to be a large one.
Philogene shone on several occasions in the second tier with arguably his crowning moment of the campaign coming against Rotherham United.
The 22-year-old scored a rabona chip shot from a narrow-angle to send the Tigers fans into raptures and help secure a 2-1 win.

In that clash, Philogene kept up a 78 per cent pass accuracy while creating five chances for his teammates throughout the 90 minutes [FotMob].
The Villa Academy product had 70 touches with 11 of them coming inside the opposition penalty box.
His technical ability and dribbling make him stand out and in that clash the wide man kept up a success rate of 67 per cent with six completed.
It appears to be clear that the 22-year-old will be featuring regularly for the Villans in the Premier League and Champions League next season.
After a year in the Championship, it remains unclear whether he will be up to the level but under Emery, there is no doubt that he will improve.
