Youri Tielemans claim emerges amid ‘fantastic’ new Aston Villa transfer development

Bryan King believes Youri Tielemans played a part in convincing Amadou Onana to sign for Aston Villa.

The ex-Villa scout feels that the 22-year-old Everton midfielder would have been interested in linking up with his Belgian teammate.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (13 July), Onana is close to joining Villa in a deal worth £50million. He is set to sign a five-year contract with the club this week.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has suggested that he will slot straight into Unai Emery’s team.

“I think this is a fantastic deal for Villa,” King said.

“Tielemans is already there, so that will help Onana to settle in a bit more quickly. Tielemans would have no doubt helped lure Onana to the club.

“He will be a first-team regular under Emery without a shadow of a doubt.”

Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana set to play alongside each other at Aston Villa

Tielemans and Onana will already know each other well from their time with the Belgium national team.

With the 2024 UEFA European Championship having just wrapped up, who knows what Tielemans might or might not have said to Onana while away with Belgium.

However, whether or not Tielemans is responsible, it looks as if the two international teammates are set to become club teammates.

As a result, supporters at Villa Park will be excited to see the midfield duo form a relationship in midfield for Emery’s side.
