Viljami Sinisalo buy-back clause mooted as Aston Villa transfer is announced

Bryan King believes Aston Villa will have included a buy-back clause in the sale of Viljami Sinisalo to Celtic.

The ex-Villa scout claims Unai Emery will be keeping an eye on how the shot-stopper performs while in Scotland.

Aston Villa confirmed via their official website on Tuesday (16 July) that the 22-year-old had signed for Celtic permanently.

But King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – refused to rule out the goalkeeper returning to the club.

“I would imagine there is a buy-back clause included in the deal,” King said.

“This will be a chance for Villa to watch him play regularly. They will no doubt have scouts in Scotland who will keep an eye on his progress and report back to Emery.

“Sinisalo has not been playing regularly. This is a good chance for him to push for a number-one position at a big club.

“There will be some sort of buy-back clause included. However, if Sinisalo was to come back, he would understandably want first-team guarantees.”

Aston Villa to have included a buy-back clause in Viljami Sinisalo’s transfer to Celtic?

Supporters at Villa Park would hope the club have included a buy-back clause for the player.

He was hardly offered a chance during his time in the West Midlands but impressed during various spells out on loan.

Sinisalo excelled in EFL League One with Exeter City last term, and Villa would therefore have been wise to include a buy-back clause in the player’s transfer.

The benefits of similar clauses have been seen recently with Jaden Philogene closing in on a return to the club (via Fabrizio Romano, 15 July).

As a result, Villa are likely to have done something similar with this transfer.

In other Aston Villa news, King believes one exit-linked player at the club is worth just £15million.
