Unai Emery keen for Moussa Diaby to quit Aston Villa after advanced transfer talks

Bryan King claims Unai Emery is happy to let Moussa Diaby quit Aston Villa after just one season.

The ex-Villa scout believes the forward’s time in the Premier League has been unsuccessful.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (17 July), negotiations are advancing between Villa and Al-Ittihad for the transfer of Diaby.

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that this is a good move for the West Midlands club.

“It sounds to me like Villa are trying to balance the books,” King said.

“They spent big money on the player, but Emery is clearly happy to let him leave. If they can get their money back then that is good business.

“Not every transfer is successful and I don’t think this one has been either.”

Moussa Diaby set to quit Aston Villa and join Al-Ittihad

This might have perhaps come as a surprise to supporters.

While Diaby didn’t necessarily live up to his tag as a club-record signing during his debut season, he still featured in every Premier League match and scored six times.

There would have no doubt been some hope that he would kick on during his second season in English football.

However, it looks as if he is on his way out, with Emery clearly not standing in the player’s way.

In other Aston Villa news, King believes one exit-linked player at the club is worth just £15million.
