Jhon Duran worth just £15m as actual Aston Villa figure shocks expert amid West Ham news
Bryan King cannot believe that Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is valued at £35million.
The ex-Villa scout claims it is currently “a silly time in football”.
As per Fabrizio Romano via X (9 July), West Ham had submitted a transfer offer for Duran worth £35million plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
However, Sky Sports News has reported via their transfer centre (4:15 pm, 15 July), that the Hammers’ interest in the striker has “cooled slightly”.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t understand why the 20-year-old is worth so much.
“I’m amazed he is valued at £35million, he hardly played last season,” King said.
“He must have hidden qualities that we don’t know about. It seems an awful lot of money, if we were talking about £15million, I thought that would be a realistic figure.
“But as I always say, it is a silly time in football.”
Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is no longer a priority target for West Ham United
It appears as though Julen Lopetegui’s side will now target other forward players.
Duran has been linked with a move away from Villa Park all summer but it appears as though the club are struggling to find a buyer.
That might perhaps suggest that they are pricing the young forward too highly.
If they could fetch a fee of £35million-plus for the player, that would be incredible. However, it doesn’t appear that any club is willing to go all the way and pay that kind of money.

As a result, Villa might need to consider lowering their demands.
