Celtic close in on Aston Villa transfer as Viljami Sinisalo talks continue
Aston Villa goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo is set to join Celtic with a transfer now close, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported via their online edition on 15 July that the 22-year-old is poised to move to Parkhead in a permanent move, rather than on loan.
A fee hasn’t yet been agreed but both Villa and The Bhoys are in talks over the finances behind a move.
Aston Villa should let Viljami Sinisalo go this summer
It’s evident that whilst Emiliano Martinez is part of Villa’s squad, he will be the number one choice.
And for good reason, the 31-year-old has had a stellar couple of seasons over the last few years and was key in Argentina’s World Cup win back in 2022.
His performances have kept up to the same standard since then and he even played a part in his country’s Copa America win against Colombia on 15 July.
Sinisalo has been part of the Villans’ squad since arriving from Finnish club Espoo back in the 2018/19 season, without any impact.

Since then, he has been on loan in both England and Scotland with his most appearances coming last term for Exeter City in League One.
Rodgers’ men have had previous links with the 22-year-old and look likely to finally act upon their desire for the ‘keeper.
Although he will no doubt be second-choice, it’s better than being third or fourth at Villa Park.
In other Aston Villa news, the Villans are expected to get ahead of the PSR curve after a new transfer development.
