Aston Villa hailed as West Brom become ‘feeder club’ with another done deal
Ty Bracey has praised Aston Villa for their work with the academy after signing Max Jenner from West Bromwich Albion.
The Villans announced via their official website (6 July) that the attacker had signed as a scholar after joining from the Baggies.
The 16-year-old isn’t the first youngster to make the move from the Hawthorns with the likes of Tim Iroegbunam, Rico Richards and Finn Azaz doing so in recent years.
Villa podcaster Bracey believes Jenner is a positive signing and is representative of where the two clubs are at.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I think it is really important we do these sorts of deals. Villa have got a good academy, good staff and good facilities to offer.
“Academy signings are a win-win really because the expenditure isn’t high but bringing in players with potentially big futures ahead and if it doesn’t work out we can offload them.
“I don’t think investing in the first team is a bad thing at all. I have no problem with us picking up players from rivals, it makes sense especially if they’re local lads like Jenner.
“Villa have better facilities and are in a better place. When a club like Villa knocks on West Brom’s door it’s a no-brainer for the players. We’ve taken all their best talent over the years and they’ve almost become a feeder club for us.“
Aston Villa confirm Max Jenner signing from West Brom
The Villans have made a habit in recent years of signing academy players from West Brom to help improve their own youth set-up.
This comes due to the staff that Villa have employed with Mark Harrison and Ryan Maye both moving from the Hawthorns.
It has to be said that the youngsters signed from the Baggies have yet to make a true impact on the Villa first team over the years.
Iroegbunam featured at times but was never trusted fully by Unai Emery and has now been sold to Everton in a beneficial move for PSR.

The Villa academy hierarchy will be hopeful that Jenner can be the one to break through and be a first-team regular in years to come.
