Moussa Diaby agrees terms to leave Aston Villa with transfer ready
Moussa Diaby has already agreed on terms with Al Ittihad ahead of a possible Aston Villa departure, according to Gianluigi Longari.
The journalist reported via X on 11 July that the Saudi Pro League side is ready to spend around £50.4million to acquire his services.
This comes just a year after his move from Bayer Leverkusen where Aston Villa signed the Frenchman for £51.9million.
Why Aston Villa shouldn’t sanction the sale of Moussa Diaby this summer
Aston Villa have been one of the many Premier League teams involved in a fair few transfer rumours since the summer window opened.
The likes of Douglas Luiz and Philippe Coutinho have both already exited Unai Emery’s side [John Percy, 4 July] this term.
Indeed, the huge sum that the Villans would receive from the possible sale of the winger would no doubt be a hefty influx of cash for the team in their maiden Champions League season.
However, it would cost far more than that to replace Diaby with a player of the same quality.
Jhon Duran is also being touted to leave Villa Park with West Ham among those lurking for a transfer this summer.
Alongside their departures, there have also been some solid arrivals with the likes of Ian Maatsen and Ross Barkley both being added to Villa’s ranks.
Granted, a Jaden Philogene return could be sealed soon [The Athletic, 9 July] which would help soften the blow for Villa fans but it would be unlikely for the Hull City star to perform as well as Diaby across the course of the season.
