Aston Villa urged to sign Wilfried Ndidi in ‘massive’ transfer verdict

Ty Bracey wants Aston Villa to sign Wilfred Ndidi on a free transfer after his contract at Leicester City expired.

The Nigerian international saw his deal at the King Power at the end of last month and is yet to sign a new deal or find a new club.

Villa does have previous of signing former Foxes players for free after Youri Tielemans joined the Villans last summer after his release.

Villa podcaster Bracey has named the 27-year-old as someone he would like to see the Villans add to their squad during the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I’d go Ndidi. I’d take him for some depth.

He’d bring experience as a player who has played in the Premier League and European competition. That would be a massive bonus.

We know he isn’t going to cost us anything so that’s a plus. We know he would be capable of doing a job for us. Not every signing has to cost £20m or £30m, it’s important to have those seasoned players.

I think he would add a lot to the squad and in the dressing room. You can’t moan at a free signing, look at Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara.

The Villans are preparing for a season where they will play Champions League football for the first time in over 40 years.

With that being said, Unai Emery is keen to bring in new faces to provide squad depth to his side which was pulled thin towards the end of last season.

This hasn’t been made easier by the departure of Douglas Luiz to Juventus but Enzo Barrenechea has come in as part of a swap deal.

Ross Barkley has also returned to the ranks on a free transfer, three years after his initial loan spell from Chelsea.

New Aston Villa signing Ross Barkley rediscovered his best career form at Luton Town.

Ndidi would provide a different option for Emery next season with his physicality and defensive abilities which could make him a useful squad player.

A potential new contract to keep him at Leicester could still be possible although the prospect of Champions League may be too much to turn down.
