Emi Martinez return to Aston Villa would be ‘massive’ – Expert

Ty Bracey believes Emi Martinez will bring a great attitude back to Aston Villa after he returns from the Copa America with Argentina.

La Albiceleste faces Canada on Wednesday (10 July) knowing that a place in the final is up for grabs.

Martinez played a huge role in getting to the semi-final with two penalty saves against Ecuador, bailing out Lionel Messi after a penalty miss.

With the Villans now back in pre-season training ahead of a campaign including Champions League football, Villa Podcaster Bracey believes the 31-year-old will hand the team a boost upon his return from the Copa America, potentially after winning another trophy.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He always shows up in big games on the international stage.

He always turns up in penalty shootouts and is a hero in Argentina. Goalkeepers and penalty-takers become heroes and villains. He’s come out on the right side of that every time recently.

I am excited to get him back to Villa Park especially if he goes and wins the Copa America. That would be massive. It would be great for Martinez and would be another trophy that he’s always dreamed of.

When he joined Villa he said playing in the Champions League was his dream and he’s about to achieve that as well.

Coming back with all the confidence and drive that he has, hopefully, he can pass that on to his teammates and that attitude is contagious.

Aston Villa await Emi Martinez return from Argentina duty

The Argentine has been an ever-present in the Villa squad ever since signing from Arsenal in 2020 under Dean Smith.

Martinez has gone from strength to strength at Villa Park which has seen him become an international superstar for his tournament heroics.

Dibu now has a Copa America and a World Cup medal while moving closer to picking up another in this summer’s tournament.

With Champions League football coming to the Midlands next season, Villa fans will be hopeful that he can keep up his upward trajectory against Europe’s elite.
