Aston Villa make critical transfer announcement on Omari Kellyman
Dan Plumley has admitted that Aston Villa had a “critical” need to sell players for profit this summer after Chelsea pounced to sign Omari Kellyman.
The Blues are said to have paid £19million for the Villa Park talent who was tipped for big things, but his sale helped the PSR situation massively.
The finance expert admitted that it was a very good deal for a player who has potential, but brings in immediate cash instead.
“This is one of them transfers that is symptomatic of where we are with the PSR transfer window,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“Again, this is an example of Villa as perhaps someone who has potential in the future but there was a critical need to sell some of those players for pure profit.
“This is another example and if you can do that bit of business for £19million for a player at this point in time in the market, that looks like a pretty good deal.
“It is symptomatic of the wider football market in the Premier League with some of the clubs that were looking tight against PSR regulations.”

This may not be the end of the business between Villa and Chelsea, with four moves mooted already between now and the end of the summer [Dan Bardell].
With Douglas Luiz also departing the club recently, hopefully, this leaves NSWE in a better position to spend as the summer goes on ahead of both the Premier League and Champions League.
