Douglas Luiz completes medical ahead of Aston Villa exit as £50m transfer claim emerges
Bryan King claims Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is worth £50million.
The ex-Villa scout believes the club have agreed a “reasonable” overall deal with Serie A giants Juventus.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X on Friday (28 June), Luiz, Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling Jr have all completed their medicals with Juventus and Villa.
Unai Emery’s side will receive the two players as well as £23.7million for Luiz.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – feels that this is just about right.
“This sounds like a reasonable deal to me,” King said.
“I would think Luiz is a £50million-level player anyway, that is the kind of fee he should warrant in today’s market.
“Therefore, if these two players from Juventus are worth around £9million each, that puts the total package over £40million.
“As a result, that sounds like a pretty good deal.”
Douglas Luiz prepares to say goodbye to Aston Villa and join Juventus
This has been a long, drawn-out transfer saga which hasn’t been shy of a few twists and turns.
However, it appears as if – barring something very dramatic in the eleventh hour – Luiz is set to say his goodbyes to Villa Park.
While some supporters might feel frustrated that they are losing arguably one of their best players, that is, unfortunately, the nature of football.
Luiz clearly wanted the move, and with only two years remaining on his contract, there was little Villa could do.
However, with two new players through the door, supporters at Villa Park will be excited to see what the Juventus duo can do next season.
In other Aston Villa news, the club have been accused of playing with “monopoly money” as an Ian Maatsen contract update emerges.
