Aston Villa and Chelsea could agree four different player transfers this summer

Dan Bardell believes Chelsea considered signing multiple Aston Villa stars before moving closer to a deal for Omari Kellyman this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has reported (23 June) that a “verbal agreement” has been reached over a £19 million move to Stamford Bridge.

After being strongly linked to Jhon Duran earlier in the window, it appears they have settled on signing the 18-year-old instead.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has assessed their summer dealings and their interest in Villa players this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “The way that Chelsea are operating at the moment means that they are signing players for the first team for big money and also young players who aren’t yet ready for the first team.

We know that Duran is keen on a move and reading between the lines they will try to get the fee down.

There’s been a lot of discussion over a lot of different players so Chelsea will be looking at Villa’s academy for potential signings.

It all relies on players wanting to move which may prove to be a stumbling block. I would wager that three or four players could move between Villa and Chelsea this summer.

Omari Kellyman to depart Aston Villa for Chelsea

The midfielder signed for the Villans from Derby County in 2022 and has been highly rated in the academy set-up ever since.

This has seen him called up into the first-team squad multiple times despite not being afforded many Premier League minutes.

He featured in just 35 minutes in the league while picking up a Player of the Match award in the Europa Conference League against Hibernian.

It is certainly frustrating to potentially lose the youngster given how much potential he has and the impact he could have on the Villa squad.

With that being said, to receive £19m for an 18-year-old who isn’t a first-team regular is something that couldn’t be turned down.

There is plenty of benefit to this deal as the large majority of the fee will be counted as profit to help ease PSR concerns this summer.

With Ian Maatsen coming in the other direction, it seems like it is a win-win situation for the Villans.
