Unai Emery decision spoke volumes as Tim Iroegbunam exit all but done at Aston Villa

Ty Bracey has suggested that Aston Villa selling Tim Iroegbunam to Everton this summer would be a deal that would suit all parties.

The Athletic has reported (18 June) that the Toffees are in advanced talks to sign the midfielder with personal terms “not expected to be an issue”. Fabrizio Romano added on 21 June that the deal is “set to be sealed”.

Villa are ready to let the 20-year-old go with him looking to secure more regular minutes in the Premier League next season.

Villa podcaster Bracey has now outlined a potential fee for the Englishman and believes it is the right decision for all involved.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “To me, £10 million would be a great piece of business if we were to sell him for that much.

He does have bags of potential but it speaks volumes that Emery seemed to prefer Calum Chambers instead of him last season.

I back Emery and the people around him to make the right decision and if he’s picked someone else to play in his position then it is what it is.

If we can get £10m for him, he’d class as a homegrown sale for us so it would be great business for both parties.

Aston Villa to sell Tim Iroegbunam to Everton

The PSR issues that Villa have to deal with have been very public and sales before 30 June are needed to avoid punishment from the Premier League.

Iroegbunam is a player who could be sold this summer to help deal with these problems that need solving by the end of the month.

On the final day of the season, Emery opted to start Chambers in midfield over the 20-year-old which somewhat summed up his season.

Now it appears that he is off to Goodison Park with a deal that will bring in useful funds to add to the balance sheet this summer.

The Villans are active in the transfer window after moving one step closer to signing Ian Maatsen from Chelsea [David Ornstein] on Wednesday (19 June).

Selling Iroegbunam may allow for more summer signings which is a positive deal for the short term at least.
