Aston Villa sign FC Copenhagen defender as official statement made today
Aston Villa have confirmed the latest signing for the club’s Under-21 squad, bringing in Ethan Amundsen-Day from FC Copenhagen.
Villa announced the capture of the Norwegian defender on the club’s official website on 18 June, signing him for an undisclosed fee.
The teenager will go straight into the Villans’ U21 setup, with Unai Emery not afraid to involve the youngsters around the first team.
The club unveiled Amundsen-Day with the following information: “Born in Leeds, the 19-year-old has spent the past three seasons with the Danish club having started his career with Fredrikstad FK in Norway.
“Mark Harrison, Academy Manager, said: ‘We are delighted that Ethan is joining us. He is a player who has a great mentality and is technically very efficient.’
“‘He will add more depth to our squads in preparation for the different competitions we will compete in at Under-21 level and we look forward to working with him over the next few seasons.'”

Aston Villa will be looking to provide the first-team squad with an excellent supply of young players ready to make the step up, and have as a club long been proud of the Scandinavians who have pulled on the claret and blue down the years.
Amundsen-Day will be chomping at the bit to get started, returning to his nation of birth to continue his development.
The club will in turn be seeking to offer a strong pathway for the academy players to develop and build Premier League careers, with Emery willing to seriously consider and give debuts to academy starlets who perform well enough.
Aston Villa finished 16th in a 26-team Premier League 2 last campaign at U21 level, which did qualify the club for the play-offs in a revamped league format, losing 4-3 after extra time to eventual champions Tottenham Hotspur.
The club will want to improve on that and see a strong U21 squad pushing for places in Premier League and Champions League matchday squads.
