Alisha Lehmann transfer update emerges at Aston Villa Women as Douglas Luiz closes on Juventus move

Alisha Lehmann could be about to join her partner Douglas Luiz in departing Aston Villa for Juventus this summer, according to il Bianco Nero.

Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz looks set to depart Villa Park in a cash-plus-players deal that will see Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior leave the Bianconeri (Fabrizio Romano, 13 June).

Il Bianco Nero now reports (15 June) that Villa Women forward Lehmann will depart for Turin as part of the negotiations for that deal.

The Switzerland international has a contract with the Villans until 2026 so the club are under no obligation to sell this summer.

Alisha Lehmann set to depart Aston Villa Women

It is a well-known fact that Luiz and Lehmann are the Villa power couple and there is now a big chance they will both represent Juve next season.

Central midfielder Douglas Luiz will represent a huge blow to the men’s team after becoming one of their most integral players in recent seasons.

Similarly, 25-year-old forward Lehmann has been influential for Carla Ward and will be a miss in the Women’s squad next season.

With the manager departing it appears as if it is all change this summer so the club would certainly look to replace Lehmann as soon as possible.

It is disappointing to lose Lehmann, especially as part of a deal which looks set to benefit the men’s team rather than the Women’s.

Alisha Lehmann has become one of the stars of the WSL with Aston Villa Women.

Although it seems she is joining her partner on a footballing career journey to Juventus, which fans won’t necessarily begrudge.

She will be missed but with plenty of time to find a replacement which is a silver lining of the deal.
