Aston Villa to move on from Douglas Luiz as Juventus transfer nearly done
Ty Bracey has backed Aston Villa to cope without Douglas Luiz next season as a move to Juventus appears to be getting closer.
Fabrizio Romano has reported (11 June) that an agreement is closer than ever for the Brazilian ahead of a move to the Serie A giants.
This will see Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior move to Villa Park as part of the deal but the loss of Luiz will be an issue moving into next season.
Villa podcaster Bracey, who has featured on Claret & Blue, has likened the situation to Jack Grealish’s departure from the club and believes the squad will cope.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It is clear that somebody had to go this summer to allow us to bring players in this summer with the financial issues that everyone has and it looks like it’s going to be Douglas Luiz.
“There was a time where Villa didn’t look like they were going to get out of the Jack Grealish-shaped hole but they’ve managed to move on from him.
“Now they’ll look to do the same with the Douglas Luiz-shaped hole, everyone is replaceable and I think with Unai Emery in charge they’ll work it out.“

There is no doubt that life without Luiz isn’t going to be easy but under Emery’s management, Villa fans need not worry.
The Spaniard has shown his ability to work with a variety of players, improve them and mould them to his style of play and tactical set-up.
The likes of Morgan Rogers have come in as unknown quantities and captured the imagination of fans and become favourites in no time.
The Villans had to lose someone to help balance the books and deal with PSR problems and it is clear who has been chosen as the makeweight.
A frustrating time for Villa fans and Emery but there is still so much to be excited about moving into the new season.
