Philippe Coutinho contract termination on cards at Aston Villa already
Dan Plumley has shared that Aston Villa could negotiate a cut-price deal to terminate the contract of Philippe Coutinho early at Villa Park.
Dan Bardell recently insisted that the Villans tearing up his contract early would be best for both parties, with Vasco De Gama interested.
The football finance expert admitted that it’s not as simple or cheap as people think, with £14million in wages still due to Coutinho over the next two years.
“It’s that negotiation, isn’t it,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“You’ve got the paying off of the contract, he’s got two years left and some of the figures are saying he’s on £135,000-a-week but always take those with a pinch of salt.
“Even then, you’re looking at two years’ worth of that is around £14million, but what the club will do is probably come to a negotiation that is not that full amount and potentially a deal to be done with the player to come to some sort of agreement.
“It’s not cheap, for the record, but it’s sometimes a meet-in-the-middle scenario and what that then does is the amortisation charge for a couple of years that you can write off and there is some work to be done on that side of the expenses, there’s getting him off the wage bill rather than sitting there running his contract down and not being an asset to the club.
“It’s not as simple as saying it will cost them £14million, but there is a deal to be done where both parties are happy to end that agreement if that’s the way it goes.
“It won’t be cheap, but in the context of a club that is generating £180million of revenue and is in the Champions League, if it’s the right thing for the club to get him off the wage bill and he’s not in the plans, they may feel it’s a decision they’ve got to take.”

Aston Villa to terminate contract of Philippe Coutinho
This would be a big statement to make by Unai Emery, but not many would question the Spaniard after everything he has done.
A big transfer fee is unlikely at this stage of his career, and moving forward into the Champions League next season, a clean slate could be best for all parties right now.
In other Aston Villa news, Unai Emery told to sell Diego Carlos despite activity suggesting he wants to stay.
