Aston Villa to reject Douglas Luiz offer as Juventus want transfer now

Dan Bardell doesn’t believe that Aston Villa will swap Douglas Luiz for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie as they look to deal with PSR concerns this summer.

According to Sky Sports (4 June), the Serie A outfit could offer a swap deal to the Villans for the Brazilian with the former Leeds man moving to Villa Park.

Unai Emery and NSWE have financial issues to deal with before the end of June and selling Luiz could alleviate some of those.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell doesn’t see how a swap deal for McKennie could benefit Villa as they look to ease PSR problems this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I’ve seen a lot of negativity around Weston McKennie but there is a good player in there and I wouldn’t judge him on half a season with Leeds in a poor team.

I don’t think there is anything in McKennie to Aston Villa, it isn’t something that I envisage happening. It isn’t going to help Villa with PSR in an exchange.

I’d be very surprised if Douglas Luiz goes to Juventus because I don’t think they’ll have the money to do it and if it did happen McKennie was part of that deal.

Aston Villa swap deal for Weston McKennie mooted

The Villans know that they must sell a star by 30 June to ease any financial issues which may result in punishments from the Premier League.

Despite qualifying for the Champions League last season, ahead of the new campaign, they could be forced into losing key stars.

Luiz has been suggested as one of the most likely players to leave Villa Park with Juventus heavily interested in his signature.

Their offer would see McKennie make the move to B6 in a move which has been met with some criticism from fans.

If Villa sell the Brazilian it will be for a large sum to ease PSR concerns, it won’t be in a cheapened swap deal for McKennie.
