Aston Villa at risk of PSR breach as ‘ridiculous’ £40million transfer claim emerges
Bryan King claims Aston Villa are in no position to sign players amid a transfer update on Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira.
The ex-Villa scout believes the club could end up overspending to sign the Brazilian.
It comes after a report from Globo Esporte (5 June) shared that Villa have expressed an interest in Pereira, with super-agent Kia Joorabchian set to handle negotiations.
Villa are said to be at risk of breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (via Birmingham Live, 8 June), and King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has warned the club against trying to sign Pereira.
“How can Villa buy this player if they’re at risk of a PSR breach,” King said.
“This is why they’re in this situation in the first place, overpaying for players and agreeing ridiculous fees.
“Certain agents make deals which are £30 or £40million more than they should be, and this is one of those agents.”
Aston Villa must focus on outgoings before signing Andreas Pereira
If Pereira’s agent will look to squeeze every last penny out of Villa, they’re better off avoiding that deal.
The club’s financial year ends on 30 June, and at this point, they will have a better understanding of their position.

With the risk of a PSR breach hanging over their heads, now is not the time for Unai Emery’s side to get involved in any expensive transfer talks.
In other Aston Villa news, the club are to force through a sale before 30 June to comply with regulations.
