Aston Villa ‘deal brewing’ to sign attacking midfielder who could shatter transfer record
Aston Villa could challenge Arsenal and West Ham United to the signing of Rokas Pukstas from Hajduk Split, according to Vecernji List.
The Croatian outlet has reported (2 June, page 22) that the attacking midfielder has signed with a new agent, Andy Bar.
He has suggested that “a deal is brewing” despite Hajduk sporting director Nikola Kalinic claiming that he is not for sale.
Should the Villans sign Pukstas this summer they could break a Croatian league transfer record set by Nikola Vlasic and Everton in 2017 when he signed for £9.2m.
Who is Aston Villa target Rokas Pukstas
At 19 years old, the American youth international has featured over 50 times for Hadjuk Split after a move in January 2022.
This season has been his most productive with eight goals and one assist in 28 HNL starts [FotMob] which has attracted plenty of Premier League interest.
He has achieved this tally featuring predominantly as a number 10 while also operating as an eight and occasionally on the wing.
As a player who features in that area of the pitch, he is positive with the ball at his feet which sees him look to dribble and find a pass where he can.
It must be said that his final ball could be improved but that will certainly come with age especially if he joins a better-quality side.

If he was to make the move to Villa Park this summer, he would be under the tutelage of Unai Emery and playing alongside the likes of Douglas Luiz and John McGinn.
This would certainly allow him to improve and become a much better player which could make a fee in the region of £9.2m good value.
In other Aston Villa news, Unai Emery may be seduced by French centre-forward they now want to sign in a summer deal.
